CULIUS culinary IP brokerage

The recipe is the asset.

Culius is the world’s first culinary intellectual-property brokerage. We value, protect and license the work of chefs, restaurants and culinary houses turning craft into capital.

A dish is authored.
A technique is invented.
A concept is owned.

For three centuries, gastronomy has been the only major creative discipline without a market for its intellectual property. Composers have publishers. Architects have rights. Designers have royalties. Chefs have compliments.

Culius exists to correct that imbalance. We treat recipes, formats, signature techniques and culinary identities as the assets they have always been and we build the contracts, valuations and partnerships that release their value.

Between the kitchen
and the boardroom.

We sit at a table that did not exist before us. On one side, the author of the work. On the other, the operators, hospitality groups and consumer brands who want to license, adapt or acquire it. Our role is to make that conversation rigorous, fair and final.

A measured Culius method™

I

Mandate

A confidential conversation. We agree on what is to be protected, valued or transacted — and the boundaries within which we will work.

II

Documentation

Recipes, methods, identities and concepts are recorded with the rigor of a publishing house. The author retains everything; we make the work legible to a market.

III

Valuation

We benchmark, model and price the asset against comparable transactions in adjacent creative industries — and against the only true reference: the work itself.

IV

Brokerage

We approach a curated counterparty list. Negotiation, term-sheet, and contract are handled end-to-end, in concert with specialist legal counsel.

V

Stewardship

Once a deal is closed, we monitor royalties, brand integrity and performance — for the lifetime of the IP.

Impact

Culius was started from direct experience inside the food world, where creativity is abundant but structure is rare. Again and again, strong ideas were lost in daily pressure, dependent on individuals, or diluted over time. The same pattern appeared across restaurants, brands, and creative food businesses: continuous effort, but limited accumulation of long-term value.

The decision to build Culius came from the conviction that the food industry deserves the same strategic depth seen in other creative sectors, where intellectual property forms the basis of growth, recognition, and independence.

This creates leverage. The business is no longer dependent on individuals to maintain quality or direction. Decisions become clearer because the foundation is defined. What is created once can be repeated with precision, transferred across teams, and expanded without losing identity.

For the owner, this changes the role entirely. Instead of constantly producing, the focus shifts to building and strengthening assets that accumulate value over time. The business gains structure, control, and a level of clarity that makes growth more stable and more intentional.

Culinary IP means that what is developed inside the business does not disappear in daily service, but remains owned, protected, and positioned as part of its long-term value.

Today, Culius works across the food landscape, structuring what businesses already create into assets they can own, protect, and leverage. The objective is not to change what a business is, but to ensure that what makes it distinctive becomes part of its long-term value.Culinary intellectual property transforms what a business creates into something that holds value beyond daily execution. Recipes, techniques, formats, and concepts are no longer temporary output, but structured assets that define how the business operates and how it is positioned in the market.

Culius is for those ready to move beyond production and build something that holds value over time.

How We Work

Culius works selectively and only with owners who want to build something that lasts. This process requires decisions, clarity, and commitment, which is why the owner is directly involved. Intellectual property cannot be developed from the outside alone—it must be extracted from the vision, standards, and direction of the business itself.

Through The Culius CAVM™, we work closely with the owner to identify what is truly distinctive, structure it into proprietary systems, and position it as long-term value. This level of work is not for everyone. It requires the willingness to move beyond daily production and take ownership of what is being created.

Because the strongest intellectual property does not come from adding more ideas, but from defining what already makes the business unique and building it into something that can be controlled, protected, and scaled.

Culius works selectively. This application allows us to understand what you are building and whether there is strong potential to structure your work into intellectual property. The information you share helps us evaluate alignment, depth, and the possibilities for developing proprietary culinary assets within your business.
